Ahead of the NFV Curve through truly scale-out Network Function Cloudification

Promising to increase service agility and scalability, NFV is developing at an unprecedented pace. Virtualized network function vendors are scrambling to move their software from running on special purpose appliances to running on virtual machines. But by simply porting the code, the VNFs still can’t take full advantages of the cloud infrastructure to achieve scale-out elasticity and high availability. Smart VNF vendors are re-architecting their applications to be cloud native with smaller failure domains, stateless transaction processing and state storage pools. Whoever complete this transformation first will emerge as the VNF vendors of choice for the service providers. In this presentation, we are illustrating the steps of this transformation to VNF developers and infrastructure builders alike. Audience will get the details of what the cloud-native VNF will look like, and the infrastructure requirement to support the efficient execution of this new generation of VNFs that support seamless service scaling.
